We contracted with Built By Humber based on a recommendation from a mutual friend and were delighted with their overall professionalism and dedication throughout the building process.  This started from the very beginning when we developed architectural drawings, building permits and site location details right through to handing us the keys to our new home.

Despite delays from very wet weather conditions in the spring of 2017, Drew and his team managed to keep the project moving forward with dedicated presence at the building site and ready access to professional sub trades who were always willing to make enhancements as needed.  Further, Drew’s commitment to quality interior finishing work has provided a home we are very proud of.

As in all new builds there are thousands of decisions to be made, and the team of Drew and Lisa provided not only needed direction to keep the project on time, but also valuable insights on the best choices as we progressed.  Throughout the project we felt as though they were building their own home and making choices that did not cut corners but rather ensured quality and a long lasting result.  In all cases they delivered on their commitments and made the building experience as enjoyable as possible.

My wife and I hired Drew Humber and his company “Built by Humber Ltd.” to a complete wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling, basement-to roof renovation of our home.   The house was built by my parents 50 years ago, and after my father’s death we decided to keep the house and move into it ourselves.   But no improvements or renovations had been made in that 50 years, and much work was required.   We hired Drew Humber and his crew based on high recommendations from other family members who had used his services in recent years, and we have been exceedingly pleased with the outcome.  The house was essentially taken back to its exterior walls, and the renovations included all new doors, windows, electrical and heating equipment, replacement and removal of some interior walls to realign the rooms, installation of new bathrooms, an entirely new kitchen, new flooring throughout and complete finishing of a previously unfinished basement to provide a family room, an additional bedroom and bathroom and office and storage space.  We found Drew’s cost estimates to be quite accurate and realistic, and we were never surprised by anything unexpected.  His workers were hard-working, friendly and polite.  He hired excellent sub-contractors (plumbers, electricians, kitchen designers etc.) who without exception did fine work on a par with Drew’s own work.   We have now lived in the home for almost 2 years, and we remain very happy with everything Drew and his team accomplished for us.   Equally important, when small questions or items have arisen since the completion of the work, Drew has been very attentive and responsive to any questions we have had, or any very minor follow up work that was required.

We have been very impressed with Drew’s obvious honesty, his dedication to hard work and the pride he clearly takes in the work that he does.   Work was completed within the reasonable time frames he promised and at the cost he indicated in advance (within the usual variances that would naturally be anticipated in a project of this size).   Another consideration is that we found Drew to be a very pleasant, engaging individual with a personality that made it a genuine pleasure to deal with him over a six-month renovation.   As Drew said to us quite often “there are no problems, only solutions”.   We could not recommend him and his company more highly.

We had an enormous renovation project and we did our due diligence to find a company that we thought could handle the complexity of the project while still being small enough so that we could have a hands on personal touch. Drew Humber and his crew were absolutely the right choice and we would work with them again in a heartbeat.

First off, Drew is extremely customer focused. When a problem arises he is focused on solutions and how to transform a negative into a positive. You have no idea how refreshing that is, especially when working on a project that lasted a year. It became a marathon and it was really important to not get bogged down in the day to day things that inevitably would go wrong. Problems were identified quickly, options offered and solutions implemented.

Next and probably just as importantly, Drew is extremely creative. He offered lots of great ideas to the project and we regularly met to brainstorm how we were going to design aspects of the house. He came to the table with at least 3 major design directions that were brilliant and are now components of the house that really set it apart.

Lastly, he has a crew of really great guys. They were respectful, courteous, helpful and clean up after themselves! It is the opposite of every stereotype of construction guys. After a year with them, they became friends as well as workers. To add to this, Drew has an extensive network of trades that he called upon to help with aspects of the job. We found all of them to be just as professional and positive as his company.

All in all, we are thrilled with the outcome of our renovation and would not hesitate to work with Built By Humber Ltd. again.”
